Pflugerville Is Officially Cool. It’s in a Report

Monday, June 2, 2025
🖐️ Good morning, Pflugerville! It's Monday, and your coffee isn't the only thing brewing. From silent P triumphs to tacos meeting high art, here's your weekly pfupdate on Pflugerville's news and events — served with a side of wit and a wink.
Pflugerville Cracks the Top 15
Pflugerville just proved it's more than a tongue-twister. U.S. News & World Report ranked our city the 15th best place to live in the U.S.. Mayor Victor Gonzales gave credit to the community, saying the city strives to make everyone feel at home. In other words, Pflugerville is officially in its cool kids era (we always knew it). The ranking factors in job market, value, and quality of life, so basically we're pfiring on all cylinders. Time to update those city welcome signs and maybe add “#15 and pfeeling fine.”

Library Wing Named After a Local Legend
At this week's city council meeting, the original wing of the Pflugerville Public Library got a new name: the Audrey T. Dearing Wing. Dearing, a beloved volunteer who helped start Pflugerville’s first library, passed away last year after over 40 years of service. Her family says she would be “way past delighted” to see this honor. Think of Audrey as the fairy godmother of Pflugerville’s libraries – now her legacy is literally written on the wall. Next time you grab a book, give a nod to Audrey and the pfabulous community spirit she represents.

Tacos + Art = Pflugerville Culture
Who says you can’t feed your soul and your stomach at the same time? RS Gallery, a new art gallery by local couple Rachel and Joey Silva, is set for a grand opening on June 7 – and they're celebrating with catered tacos. Yep, fine art and fajitas can go together. The gallery will showcase works from local artists (between bites of El Hombre tacos). Door prizes await the first 20 guests, with raffle entries open till evening. If you've ever wondered what happens when the art scene meets a Texas backyard cookout, here’s your answer. Pflugerville’s culture just got a little more pfestive.

Pflugerville Meme of the Week

Quick Hits
🙌 Quote of the Week: “Did someone say top 15?” – City of Pflugerville on social media, flexing after our big ranking.
🪨 Weird Pflugerville Fact: We’re “between a rock and a weird place” – nestled between Round Rock and Austin, as the city likes to brag.
🤑 Stat of the Week: $7.7 million – Funding just approved for Pflugerville water and sewer upgrades (because keeping things pfunctional isn’t cheap).
⛪️ This Week in Pflugerville History: On June 1, 1984, the First United Methodist Church held its inaugural service in their new building at 500 E. Pecan Street. After outgrowing their previous space, the congregation built the new church with the help of members who cleared the land and constructed the facility. This milestone marked a significant moment in the community's spiritual and communal life.
Until next time,
